STORING PICTURES

Computers can only see numbers, however computers are also able to store pictures. Computers do this by assigning a spefic number to an image. In other words, the computer links a number to an image. When an image is requested, the computer looks for the number associated to the image.

The steps to solve a problem include:

CHAT LINES

You can be sure that there is an actual person on the other end of the chat line when you get a response. You can also tell it is an actual person when their response is relevant and addresses a spefic question/topic. Another way of determining if the is someone by the way the adress you .

COMPUTER PROGRAM

A COMPUTER PROGRAM (SOFTWARE) IS A SET OF ORDERED INSTUCTIONS THAT ALLOWS THE COMPUTER TIO CARRY OUT CERTAIN TASKS. THE PROGRAM IS PREPARED PRIOR TO INSTALLING IT BECAUSE THE ACTIONS ARE PREDETERMINED. PROGRAMS WORK IN MANY MACHINES AND IN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES. THE ORDER OF INSTRUCTIONS IS USUALLY IN SETS OF LETTERS OR NUMBERS. IN OTHER WORDS, THEY ARE IN CODES.  EACH UNIQUE SEQUENCE REPRESENTS A SPECIFIC THING. EVERY SEQUENCE IN VERY SPECIFIC.

GOOGLE & STUMBLE

Google and Stumble are alike because they both give you resutls for something that you are searchign for. They are different becuase Google tends to focus on only one topic that you request. On the contrary, with Stumble, you can search various topics at the same time. However, with stumble, you never know where it is going to take you. Google is more for specific searches ans Tumble is more for fun and just to look for stuff where you normally would not expect to.   

CRITERIA FOR CREDIBLE WEB SITES

Some web sites may present more evident signs of false information. However, some may be more subtle. Now that anyone has access to the world wide web, then it is crucial that you evaluate a website for its reliability.  A criteria to evaluate the authenticity and credibility of the information in a web site can include:

1. DOMAIN:
• .edu
• .com
• .gov
• .net
• .org  **you don't know what organization it is**
2. The author(s) and credentials
3. Sources mentioned that were used to compile information (reference list)
4. Logos/ Distracting Graphics
5. Well written
6. Up to date
7. Information is clear and relevant 
8. Easily accessible
9. Spelling/ Grammar errors
10. Is it bias?

SHOULD YOU BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU SEE ON THE INTERNET?

You should not believe everything you see on the internet for obvious reasons. In some cases, anybody has access to these web sites and can alter the information in them. As a result, you get the wrong information. Wikipedia is one of the most unreliable sources because it is open to anyone who wants to edit it. You can probably determine which information is false by the source you are getting it from. For the best results, get information from .edu websites. When it comes to images, people can acuatlly photoshop images to make them look a certain way.

SEARCH ENGINES

Search engines work by searching the internet based on important words or combination of words that you in put. In turn, it also recognizes the kind of information you are looking for and guides you toward the results that match or are similar to your search. Search engines index all the information so that later on, it is easier to access the information.    

COMPUTERS = MAGIC ??????

I do not think that what computers do is magic. I think that the things it does are all predetermined settings which are applied when the device is created. For instance, when you input 2+2 in a calculator, it does not "magically" come up with the answer. On the contrary, it has already been set to output 4 when 2+2 is the input. Computers only understand on and off. As it turns out,  a computer is a very complex and dumb machine.

EMBEDED DEVICES

Some embeded devices that I rely on a daily basis include my alarm clock, my iPOD, cell phone and calculator. All of these devices are programmable or are already programed. Whatever the case may be, they are all an essential part of my daily life. For instance, I can program my alarm to wake me up at a certain time and play certain music.

WHAT IS A COMPUTER?

A computer is a machine that receives and processes information. Just as computers receive information, the can also provide an output of information and/or data. A computer also has the ability to store information and/or data depending on the amont of memory space it has. Most computers are designed to store large amounts of information.

GAME COMMENTS

On average, most games were not "playable".There was not alot of thought put in to them. On the contrary, most games where simple but you were bound to lose. For instance, some did not even give enough time to complete the game.

Hello,
My name is Catherine Soto. I am in the Exploring Computer Science Class to fulfull the computer credit requirement. I am 17 years old and my birthday is in May. During my spare time, I like listening to music. I am mostly interested in Alternative Rock (Spanish and English). Traveling is among one of my favorite things to do.
